Current part-time position will support coverage for 3 Richmond Area offices (Southside Plaza, Mechanicsville & Colonial Height s).

Job Description / Responsibilities

Recovery nurses are integral to postoperative care. Recovery nurses care for patients after surgery and must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology.

• Utilize critical care skills to assess body temperature and track other indicators of stability or complications.
• Administer diligent care via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment.
• Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed
• Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
• Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
• Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
• Determine when patients are ready to be released
• Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies

Requirements

• Valid BLS from the American Heart Association; ACLS or PALS preferred
• A valid professional license within the state of practice
• A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential　from the American Heart Association is　recommended and may be required for specific registered nurses and travel nurse positions
• Other specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required for specific positions
• Experience as a PACU nurse in a hospital setting
• Recovery work with pediatric patients (preferred)
