The Prince William Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) is a well- established agency in Prince William County, VA. We provide a safe and secure environment for the staff and inmates while protecting the residents of Prince William County. In addition, the ADC has four (4) facilities within the County with varying custody levels. The Central, Main, Modular and Iron Buildings are centrally located in Manassas, VA. The ADC provides a variety of positions for sworn and civilian staff. Sworn positions range from Jail Officer to Superintendent. The ADC also has sworn specialty! positions in its Transportation, Classification, ICE (287g) D! epartments etc. Civilian positions range from administrative, accounting, Jail and Records Tech, Information Technology, Correctional Health Nurses (LPNs and RNs), Food Services etc. to Finance Director. The ADC is currently looking for career-minded Technical Services Analyst I with a desire to join its team-oriented staff. General Definition of Work, Typical tasks, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs difficult professional and complex technical work in the implementation and support of computer and network technology to improve County staff productivity and effectiveness. This position may also function at the department level to implement specific software and equipment to determine specific requirements on a departmental level.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Department Director or designee.

TYPICAL TASKS:
Studies and reviews difficult agency-wide and end-user and needs and recommends selection of hardware, software and network solutions to address those needs;
Creates and cond! ucts advanced and specialized training for County-supported end-user, n! etwork and specialized applications and advise on data security protection and recovery;
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and solves complex end-user problems involving hardware interactions, commercial and pre-designed special software applications, and network interactions operated by the County; and specific equipment dealing with the needs of a specific department;
Writes, tests, documents, and maintains difficult standard utility programming code and purchased software macros as required for County operations; and specific operations on a specified departmental need; (i.e., designing screens, setting up database matrices and files, formatting and outputting spreadsheets and reports, iterative processing and computation displaying and printing graphics and data communications);
Evaluates and recommends new commercial software applications to meet County information management requirements and develops plans for implementation and integration with County network; Installs microcomputers, peripheral equipment, and related software; provides deployment/implementation maintenance and support for data computer system;
Consults with County staff and citizens regarding the operation of the multimedia projection system;
Performs administrative work related to providing complex technical information to County staff and/or specific department;
Attends training sessions to keep abreast of technical advances in the information systems field; Countywide or departmental;
Develops strategies for new commercial software applications implementation on stand-alone and network systems, technical functions and/or operational support system for a specific department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of practices, techniques and principles of information management technologies and software applications relating to business functions of the end-user community; thorough knowledge of commercial soft! ware packages; ability to apply intermediate programming techniques, ab! ility to study and recommend software and hardware needs Countywide or departmental needs; ability to assimilate new technology and prudently apply to improve operations and productivity; thorough knowledge of microcomputer and network operating systems; ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex information systems programs; ability to effectively organize, schedule and plan work assignments if applicable to work assignment; ability to conduct end-user formal training classes for Countywide functions and/or for specific departmental technical functions; general knowledge of the principles and practices of a variety of technological innovations departmental or Countywide; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Education and Experience:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in! data processing, computer science or a related field; and 3-5 years of progressive experience in technical operation of computer equipment, formal computer instruction, and end-user application packages; or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in data processing or related field and 1-2 years experience as a technical computer instructor or in technical operation of computer equipment and end-user applications.
