This leadership position will oversee district-wide sexual health clinical processes, meeting the VDH STI requirements for clinical efficiency and effectiveness. Will provide expertise and guidance that addresses the care of sexual health clients ensuring compliance with VDH and CDC guidelines. Will work with all district staff for standardization of policy, procedure and testing processes. Will be a sexual health clinical resource nurse; provide training to new nursing staff, and training updates for district. Will provide data analysis of health district STI rates on an on-going basis. Will monitor sexual health trends, help establish district outcome measures and monitor progress in achieving desired outcomes. Will perform quality assurance regarding STI clinical operations in the district. This position will also provide support in clinics ( STI , Family Planning, Immunization and Refugee). May assist with Preadmission Screenings, and perform TB and Communicable Disease investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have VA RN license or be eligible to obtain. Must have demonstrated nursing experience to include knowledge of current nursing practices and health promotion strategies. Skills in nursing assessment, planning nursing interventions, case management. Ability to counsel clients, families and communities on health issues; work with diverse populations; problem solve, set priorities and work independently; communicate effectively orally and in writing; use basic computer software programs.
Must be able to learn to use interpreter services to communicate with non-English speaking clients.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN and MSN preferred. Prefer experience in working in a health department clinical environment; prefer experience with clinical quality improvement, and providing direct training to nurses. Prefer experience in sexual health, STI clinical setting and nursing case management.

Employee may be designated as essential personnel during emergency events outside of normal work hours.
Twelve-month probationary period is required for all new state employees. A new probation period may be required for successful internal candidates or rehired state employees.
