The Division of Pulmonology in the Department of Medicine is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Clinical Research Nurse or Respiratory Therapist Coordinators. This position is open to multiple levels.
The incumbent is responsible for implementation of complex and comprehensive research protocols related to multiple pulmonary diseases. This person will be responsible for all aspects of clinical research. The CRC will perform duties including screening and accrual of patients, coordinating and staffing study visit according to protocol, screening patients for study, administering FDA IND controlled xenon and/or helium gas as appropriate, and collecting and documenting study related information pertinent to the protocol in the electronic format as well as in the study research files i.e. regulatory binder. The CRC will be responsible for drawing and collecting blood samples, performing study related procedures (e.g. administering study required medications for screening, physical exam, ECG, spirometry, vital sign assessment), and coordinating/managing the visit days of the patient on study to ensure protocol compliance. In conjunction with non-licensed coordinators , the licensed coordinator will be responsible for preparation of annual reports for FDA, IRB and other regulatory bodies. This position requires hands on clinical work in the CRU setting or hospital or Medical Imaging facility in Snyder building so all clinical competencies need to be up to date. The CRC will work independently but with close communication with PI's on overall conduct of the research.
All applicants must have a current license as a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist in the State of Virginia by appointment start date.
Applicants who qualify for the Licensed Clinical Research Coordinator entry level, must have an Associate's Degree or higher. Clinical research experience is desired but not mandatory.
Applicants who qualify for the Licensed Clinical Research Intermediate level must have an Associates degree or higher and at least four years of experience. Related graduate degree may substitute for two years of experience.
Applicants who qualify for the senior level must have an Associate or Bachelor's degree or higher and six years of clinical research experience. Related graduate degree may substitute for three years of experience.
Some basic science or laboratory research experience is preferred. Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) also preferred.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
