POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is responsible for providing and/or promoting quality patient care which utilizes knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, is appropriate to the age of the patients served, is family centered and based on the philosophy of DePaul Medical Center, the Division of Patient Care Services, and in accordance with Nurse Practice Act of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This process includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The Registered Nurse will be cognizant of and able to perform all appropriate components of nursing care required.

Directly assists the CNM in caring for the family during labor; acts as the “second pair of hands” during births and/or emergencies, and directly a! ssists the family immediately following birth and assume the c! are of patient one hour after delivery of placenta.

Job Requirements

1. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
2. Currently licensed to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
3. No previous experience required other than that obtained in a basic nursing program.
4. Previous experience preferred in maternal child nursing.
5. CPR, ACLS (L&D only) and NRP certified or able to be CPR, ACLS (L&D only and within first year of
employment) and NRP certified.
