Location: Warren Virginia

Description: Dept of Health is currently seeking to employ Nutritionist (LF) right now, this occupation will be placed in Virginia. This salaried nutritionist position is located at the Warren County Health Department, serving the counties of Warren and Page. Schedule may include daytime Monday through Friday with occasional weekend health ! promotion activity such as health fairs or presentations to community groups. This position provides nutritionist services to health department customers through the Women, Infant, and Children's program. WIC clients include low-income pregnant women, infants and children up to age 5. Duties include providing nutritional assessment, counseling, and education (one-on-one, group, and community). Work is done in a team environment that includes nutritional assistants and public health nurses.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate will possess effective nutritional counseling skills, excellent communication skills (writing, oral presentation), good computer skills in Microsoft Office, recent clinical nutrition experience and the ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Has a baccalaureate degree with a major in foods and nutrition or dietetics or has equivalent hours of food and nutrition course work; has two years of work experience in nutrition or di! etitics concurrent with or subsequent to such degree.

! Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of maternal and pediatric nutritional needs and knowledge of the WIC Program. Prefer Registered Dietitian and Spanish/English bilingualism.

Special Requirements

This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC Program for a one year period ending September 30, 2014 . The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually or before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds. A successful national criminal records and background check will be required.
