Job Details: ***This position is located at Oakwood H! ealth and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, VA*** The Long Term Care Nursing Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision for Oakwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. The LTC Nursing Supervisor supervises a team of nursing personnel working in Oakwood Manor to ensure care for residents of all ages that meets all State, Federal and TJC - LTC regulatory requirements an customer satisfaction. The LTC Nursing Supervisor is also expected to support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Promotes Carilion Clinic’s Culture of Excellence and quality service through team work, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient/customer needs.
Supervise, coordinate and direct the work of an assigned shift of nursing units and provide advanced professional guidance and directio! n to nursing staff engaged in providing nursing care to reside! nts in compliance with physicians’ orders and established health care practices including seven days a week responsibility of assigned shift.
Consult with nursing personnel on shift problems. Monitor critical residents and nursing operations to provide resolutions or specialized nursing care.
Make routine and unannounced rounds of nursing units to assess adherence to Health Care mission and philosophy.
Respond to emergency situations and provide technical and clinical support as needed.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures as assigned.
Administer IV’s, place N/G tubes and obtain blood samples as necessary; obtain central supply items to support required nursing services.
Maintain liaison between nursing units and the various nursing ancillary service departments to ensure coordination of effort for optimal resident care.
Prepare reports and analyses reflecting incidents, personnel evaluations, adverse trends and appropria! te statistical data.
Provide guidance and counseling in the resolution of problems.
Supervise a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules, sick leave and disciplinary action.
May function in dual capacity of Supervisor and Floor Charge Nurse.
Participate in Staff Development programs as requested.
Respond to staffing problems on next shift to ensure adequate personnel to meet resident needs.
Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: Graduate of accredited program in school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree or related equivalent experience preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years of nursing experience with increasing job responsibilities. Long term care (Geriatric) experience preferred. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current Virginia RN license required â€" certification in appropriat! e discipline preferred. Current BLS certification required. Other Minim! um Qualifications: Demonstrates leadership and management qualities at current level of practice. Must possess excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, communication skills, analytic business skills, team player and ability to problem solve/resolve complaints.
