The Dietician shall provide personnel for services in the Family Practice Clinic at Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, TX. Personnel may be required to provide services at Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Kingsville, TX and Fort Worth, TX, as alternate worksites. The Kingsville clinic is located approximately 45 miles from Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, TX while the Forth Worth clinic is located outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The health care worker (HCW) will provide services at the Kingsville Clinic location no more than twice per month during the Period of Performance. The HCW will provide services for the NBHC Fort Worth, TX once every three months for duration of no more than three consecutive days per instance. The Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, TX will be the primary services location.
Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 to 1700
Duties:
Provide dietary consultations to the Primary Care Managers (PCMs) of the following; Branch Health Clinic (BHC) Kingsville, TX, BHC Fort Worth, TX, and the Brooke Army Medical Center clinics in person (if authorized to travel to that location specified in this task order), by telephone, or via secure messaging as the need arises.
Perform a full range of dietitian services in accordance with clinical privileges granted by the commanding officer.
Perform nutritional assessment, evaluation, and modification of nutrients.
Perform interpretation of laboratory data.
Perform evaluation of diet history, 24-hour recall, and food frequency data.
Perform modifications in fiber, consistency, calories, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and minerals.
Provide alternate dietary plans to account for food allergy, food intolerance, or food preferences such as vegetarianism.
Incorporate into dietary plans: nutritional factors associated with conditions such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiac, gastrointestinal, hepatic, hypertension, metabolic, endocrine, renal, surgery, neurologic, pulmonary, malabsorption, and infection; all life cycle phases (e.g., pregnancy, lactation, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics); disease prevention of palliation (e.g., dental caries, oral health, weight control, risk factor intervention, oncology, abnormalities of nutrient metabolism, drug-nutrient, and diet-drug interactions, substance abuse, and feeding problems); and nutritional factors associated with stress, deficiency states, immunologic implication, and megavitamin supplementation.
Provide education of patient and family in lifestyle modifications for factors given above.
Provide liaison between physician, nursing care, and nutritional services.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and shall provide own transportation when a government vehicle is unavailable for travel.
