Martinsburg VAMC provides general medical, surgical, and psychiatric services to veterans in 23 counties in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The Medical Center has a fully integrated inpatient and outpatient primary care program, and provides a full range of outpatient services. The Medical Center is located on 175 acres of beautiful rolling hills, in modern, well-maintained buildings.

Designated and/or Random Drug testing required DUTIES:
The incumbent will be assigned to Geriatrics/Long Term Care Service,Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) and will be accountable for providing leadership, both clinically and administratively and serves as the primary management point of contact for the HBPC Medical Director and Program Manager/Coordinator. The incumbent will provide geriatric primary care at the veterans home as part of the HBPC team, adhering to established Center policies and procedures and VA Directives, demonstrating leadership and accomplishment when providing support to the supervising physician and the Chief of Geriatrics/Long Term Care and assistance to representatives to various departments/services within the ! VA organization, implementing and complying with administrative review of the service's operations to assure compliance with all internal and external review requirements. Clinical management of patients may include skills necessary for the stabilization of acute complications and may include the initiation of basic life support, patient education is primarily provided in an interactive setting which requires good interpersonal skills and leadership as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Monday-Friday
8:00am - 4:30 pm

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education or Training. The candidate must meet one of the following:

(1) A bachelorÂ's degree from a PA training program which is certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of t! he Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); or

(2) Graduation from a PA t! raining program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a bachelorÂ's degree in a health care occupation or a health-related science; or

(3) Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such as an independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist, or medical technician. The duration of approved academic training and health care experience must total at least 5 years.

Certification: must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA)
