Part-time position only...
We are currently looking for several Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who will provide program support and direct care to residents for minor illnesses and injuries, and make referrals to other medical professionals and facilities as appropriate. The LPN will participate in IPP planning and monitoring as needed and will supplement the services of an RN as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited schoo! l of nursing and registration and license (LPN) to practice nu! rsing in the District of Columbia plus one year of med\surg experience. Experience with the mentally retarded in a residential program is desired. Registration and license to practice nursing in District of Columbia or VA (LPN License, respective to program location/requirements)
Ability to communicate with medical/care providers and advocate for resident needs. Ability to coordinate and/or prioritize needs of different program sites. Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, individuals, and other employees of the organization.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with ha! nds and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
