Clinic Assistant, Swift Creek Elementary School

Description: Chesterfield County Public Schools is presently looking of Clinic Assistant, Swift Creek Elementary School right now, this job will be placed in Virginia. Handles routine and non-routine medical situations within standard medical practices. Work is ! under general supervision and may require special instruction by a health care professional. Essential Job Functions:
Admits and discharges sick students in the clinic.
Dispenses medication and administers tests to students as required by physicians under state/local guidelines; maintains appropriate medication records and logs.
Provides specialized assistance and health care services to students in accordance with physician’s instructions (e.g. catherization for physically handicapped students, assist with nebulizers).
Treats minor accidents and health emergencies.
Contacts emergency services and parents when necessary; performs first aid and CPR (if trained) until help arrives.
Assists school nurse in health screenings, examinations and other medical, health and hygiene procedu! res.
Provides clerical assistance â€" typing, filing, main! taining records and ordering supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Some knowledge of medical conditions, symptoms, medications, treatments and proper hygiene. Some knowledge of childhood growth and development. Demonstrated a bility to assess illnesses, injuries, seizures and determine appropriate immediate treatment. Demonstrated a bility to obtain appropriate medical assistance to handle emergencies. Demonstrated a bility to perform basic clerical tasks. Demonstrated a bility to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Demonstrated a bility to follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to work well with students, staff and parents in a professional manner. Education, training or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
