GENERAL SUMMARY:
This individual will provide comprehensive reproductive and post reproductive health care, including obstetric, gynecologic, and family planning care for the primarily Spanish speaking population of female patients seen in La Clinica. The Nurse Practitioner will be proficient in Spanish. S/he will function in a supervisory role in regard to the education of medical students, nurse practitioner students and residents. S/he will practice independently according to established protocols and in collaboration with physician supervisors. There will be periodic clinical practice and chart review.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Essential Functions of the Job:
 Manages the care of women during the reproductive and post reproductive life. Applies knowledge of OB/GYN practice that includes, but is not limited to, the following: anatomy and physiology o! f the systems as affected by the reproductive health process. ! Manages the effects of the pregnancy on physical and mental health of the patient. Attends to the nutritional needs of the pregnant and non-pregnant women.
 Provides common screening and diagnostic tests pertinent to the evaluation of the health of women. Identifies deviations from normal and appropriate interventions.
 Counsels and educates for health maintenance and health promotion in women. Manages techniques and therapeutics, including complementary therapies, for alleviating the discomforts that accompany reproductive and post reproductive issues. Knowledgeable of the pharmacology of frequently prescribed medications and treatments for women focusing on OB/GYN concerns.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):Education:
 Masters of Science in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner Certification
 Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia
 Credenti! aled to prescribe medications within State and Federal guidelines

Experience:
 2 years of NP experience is required

Knowledge and skills:
 Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required
 Basic knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer
 Prior experience using an electronic medical record system is preferred
