Responsible for ensuring that the health and medical needs of individuals within the ICFID Program are continually being addressed, monitored, and provided.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Performs nursing assessment, prepares nursing care plans and nursing reports. 2. Provides clinical supervision to Community Living LPN. 3. Participates in the ID team meetings. 4. Consults with physicians, consultants and other clinical and medical professionals regarding consumer psychological and medical plans and treatments under the guidance of the Director, Community Living and clinical supervision of RN/ RN consultant. Serves as liaison with medical consultant and primary physicians. 5. Manages orders for medications, medication storage, medical supplies and equipment for individuals within the ICFID program. 6. Transports individuals to medical and psychological appointments when needed. 7. Develops and implements medical protocols and tracking charts with RN/RN consultant. 8. Assists with the planning and organizing of staff orientation and in-service training for direct support professionals and other agency staff. 9. Administers individual medications when needed. 10. Maintains valid Virginia driverÂ's license and insurable under The ArcÂ's auto insurance. 11. Participates in on call schedule. 12. Performs other nursing related duties as needed.
Qualifications summary
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
EDUCATION: Certification as Registered Nurse and a current Virginia State Nursing License required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years nursing experience in mental health, intellectual disability, health or related filed.. Experience in clinical supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of intellectual disability or other developmental disabilities, mental health and physical disorders. Knowledge and ability to acquire medical and clinical resources to meet individualsÂ' medical and psychological needs. Knowledge of various medical treatments, first aid, cpr, medication administration and infection control. Work independently performing duties and responsibilities under general supervision and guidance of Director, Community Living and clinical supervision of RN/ RN Consultant. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain effective inter and intra-agency relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as personal computers and record boxes, lifting objects over 50 pounds.
