DUTIES:
Duties: The Perioperative RN is administratively accountable to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services through the Associate Chief, Nursing Service Surgery and the Nurse Manager, OR. Responsibilities include providing optimal quality perioperative care for all patients during the surgical phase of their surgical experience. The Perioperative RN must manage patient instability and/or complications due to emergence from local, conscious sedation, spinal, regional, or general anesthesia. The Perioperative RN must manage surgical emergencies with quick action and appropriate decision making. The RN is responsible for a full range of duties, utilizing the nursing process in the operating room to include scrub and circulating duties in various surgical specialties (Cardiothoracic, General, Neurosurgery, etc). The candidate must be willing to rotate day and evening tours of duty and assigned to OR call.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
LICENSURE: Current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Must have a minimum of two (2) years of current perioperative nursing experience.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of a nursing program approved by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) http://nlnac.org/home.htm or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) http://www.aacn.nche.edu/CCNE/reports/accprog.asp accredited School of Nursing required.
