The Sr. Director of Clinical and Administrative Services, is responsible for providing daily leadership in the development, ! administration and direction of all aspects of the organ recovery process, including organ recovery, hospital relations and community education, while maintaining the ability to maximize outcomes in these departments in the achievement of goals and objectives. He/She must be an experienced and effective leader and demonstrate a strong understanding of clinical and hospital procedures and protocols, in addition to demonstrating strong familiarity with policies and guidelines relative to organ donation and transplants. He/She must be able to guide the delivery of efficient, effective and quality services through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ designated service area. He/She directs clinical operations through a team of functional managers, clinical and related staff. He/She is responsible for assuring a comprehensive orientation and continuing education and training program for staff level clinical positions and orientation for all new hires, as well as cont! inually monitoring staff core competencies and training needs.! He/She works collaboratively with the V.P. /E.D. of Transplant Services and appropriate directors and managers to develop and execute on strategies to maximize the quantity and optimize the quality of organs for transplantation while ensuring the utmost dignity and respect for donors and their families. He/She accepts responsibility for the overall success of the team in achieving departmental goals, and ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower and processes. He/She should be team oriented, customer focused and independently driven to success. The Sr. Director of Clinical and Administrative Services will perform his/her job in a manner that exemplifies the mission, attributes and values of LifeNet Health on a continuous basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Directs the day-to-day operations of the clinical services and closely related operational functions of the OPO
2. Collaborates with the Exec Di! rector, other senior leaders and staff of the OPO to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of the OPO systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of LNH and the Transplant Centers
3. Establishes and maintains a clinical interface with medical directors, transplant surgeons, processors, and staff to promote maximization of donor gifts.
4. Engages in strategic thinking to establish long-term performance goals for LifeNet Health.
5. Establishes credibility throughout the organization and OPO service area as a effective developer of solutions to business challenges
6. Develops and maintains positive relationships between donor hospitals, transplant programs and LifeNet Health to ensure quality service is provided to donor families, recipients and the community.
7. Manages the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for the com! pany
8. Develops and manages the annual budget for assigned departm! ents to assure the effective and efficient use of financial resources.
9. Assists with the development of quality improvement programs within each department to ensure progress towards organizational goals and objectives, and to operate within external policies and standards affecting the OPO.
10. Ability to develop short term and long term plans, and organize and manage multiple priorities
11. Provides leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of LNH are put into practice

OTHER FUNCTIONS

1. Complies with and ensures departmental compliance with LifeNet Health’s Quality Systems Program.
2. Assists in the development of corporate policies and procedures.
3. Promotes a positive professional image of the Organ Procurement Organization and LifeNet, both internally and externally.
4. Promotes, supports and adheres to all LifeNet Health Corporate, Divisional and Departmental policies and procedures.
5. Per! forms any other duties as assigned.

CHALLENGES DECISION-MAKING, AND RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Requires following vaguely defined procedures. Decisions are solved with complex reasoning. Decisions affect a department and may affect the entire Organization.
  • On a daily basis, decisions are made regarding medical management of organ donors, staff triage, logistics, and organ allocation, legal issues, consent, validation of brain death and potential for disease transmission, escalation of issues! to OPO Medical Director, legal counsel, OPO V.P./E.D. of Transplant Se! rvices and/or CEO, allocation of financial and personnel resources. Recommendations made regarding personnel, financial metrics and performance, strategy to meet goals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, nursing, healthcare administration or business degree with strong clinical focus from an accredited college and university
2. Master’s Degree preferred
3. Five years of senior management experience
4. Five years of experience as a Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator with current certification or prior experience in a Transplant Center and a thorough understanding of the donation process and clinical requirement.
5. Working knowledge of hospital operations and protocols.
6. Proven leadership skills and the ability to set performance standards, mentor and grow staff, lead people and get results, and provide constructive feedback.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to master! other job relevant systems
8. Advanced communication and negotiation skills
9. Analytical with ability to perform independent research.
10. Valid state driver’s license
