Under general direction, assumes line responsibility and authority for the! administrative direction, evaluation and coordination of the functions and activities of assigned departments within the hospital organization to ensure operating objectives and results are in accord with overall hospital needs. In the absence of the COO, represents the COO in the coordination of portions of the hospital organization, speaking and acting within the scope of objectives set forth in the practice and /or policy of the hospital.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
1. Provides administrative direction and leadershp for the operations of assigned departments, including but not limited to Environmental Services, Nutrition Services, Acute Therapies, and Respiratory Therapy, and appraises the performance of respective department heads, including authority to hire and dismiss subject to the approval the COO.
2. Communicates routinely with the COO concerning policy recommendations and suggested courses of action pertinent to the effi! cient operation of assigned departments.
3. Implement! s new policies and disseminates pertinent information following administrative directives.
4. Recommends improvement of hospital facilities in assigned areas, including construction of renovation of structure and purchase of new equipment.
5. Promotes complete involvement of department heads in the preparation of department budgets and educates them in the importance of the budget, forecasting and planning process.
6. Advises and makes recommendations to the COO concerning budgeting, cost and financial matters.
7. Encourages and assists department heads in establishing a measure of performance, increased productivity, quality improvement, cost controls and maximum utilization of facilities. Advises COO where executive action is necessary to accomplish these goals.
8. Plans the activities of individual departments in relation to other hospital department to obtain a better understanding of each otherâs problems.
9. Atte! nds medical staff meetings and/or medical staff committee meetings as assigned or

requested. Informs the COO of proceedings at meetings attended and recommends action as necessary.
10. Represents the hospital by membership in related professional associations.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
Required â"
Must possess high predictive talent with relationships. The ability to lead people. Outstanding written and oral communication and problem-solving skills. Possess basic PC skills in a Windows operating environment, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have knowledge of performance improvement, change theory, and hospital systems.
Preferred â"
Previous experience in Business Development or service-line management.
EDUCATION
Required â"
Masterâs Degree in Healthcare, Business, or Nursing.
